A pair of powerful earthquakes struck western Venezuela on the evening of June 24, 2026, with a magnitude 7.2 foreshock followed 40 seconds later by a magnitude 7.5 mainshock near San Felipe and Yumare in Yaracuy state, approximately 43 kilometres northwest of Valencia. The events represent the strongest seismic activity to hit Venezuela in over a century. Our thoughts are with all those affected.

The affected region is home to Venezuela’s primary industrial corridor. The states of Carabobo, Aragua, Miranda, Trujillo and La Guaira have all been reported as impacted. Valencia, the country’s main industrial hub, sits within the immediate epicentre zone.

Two of Venezuela’s largest glass manufacturers are located in the affected area. Venvidrio (Venezolana del Vidrio C.A.), the country’s leading container glass producer with a reported capacity of over 290,000 tonnes per year, operates in Valencia, Carabobo. Produvisa, one of Venezuela’s major glass packaging manufacturers with six decades of operational history, is also active in the region. Distrividrios, a glass distribution company, is based in Maracay, Aragua state.

At the time of publication, no official reports on damage to industrial facilities have been issued. Glassglobal will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as the situation becomes clearer.
